Test of Basic Riding Skills
------------------------------►License
Basic rider training tests (SZVJ) is the gateway to competitive riding. After successful completion, the rider will be authorized to compete in competitions organized by the Slovak Equestrian Federation. It also serves as a prerequisite for obtaining a coaching license.
What you need to know
Needs for the exam
- Confirmation from a doctor (you can find it in the form at the end of the document)
- writing tools;
- a horse;
- complete riding equipment (according to Article 127 of the General Rules of the SJF);
- personal number assigned by the organizer as part of the presentation.
Content of the theoretical exam
As for the theoretical exam, it is mainly taken into account to demonstrate general knowledge, which includes, for example, horse anatomy, horse transport, feeding, watering and general care of horses, rider and horse equipment, first aid basics, horse injuries and diseases, or horse shoeing. The theoretical exam consists of a written test that contains 30 questions, and for which you will have 60 minutes. To successfully pass the theoretical exam, you must have at least 25 correct answers.
Content of the practical exam
It is the practical test that will perfectly test your riding skills and abilities. This consists of the horse's basic movements (step, trot, canter), execution in a circle, leveling and halting with an emphasis on the rider's seat and influence, balance and correctness of aids on obstacles. Disobedience three times during the practical exam results in expulsion from the exam.
Did you know that…
...riding license is not only for competition? As with the driver's license of group B, this is also a BASIS, which later (after meeting certain conditions) entitles you to extend this license, for example to a coach or instructor of horse riding I. and II. classes.
Exam evaluation
• The commission must consist of 3 examiners.
• As part of the practical exam, the grade passed/failed is given.
• In the theoretical exam, it is necessary to achieve at least 25 correct answers out of 30.
• At the end of the exam, the candidate is issued with a test report - it is then delivered to the relevant area of the SJF, on the basis of which the SJF issues a license to the applicant.
